Rabbi Michael Hecht

What’s it like to be a rabbi? Amid the ever-evolving demands on a rabbi’s time, one thing remains: The job is to implant Jewish values. Sometimes the task seems overwhelming. And yet, the words and deeds of rabbis (and of every human being!) do have an effect that is sometimes felt years later. These days, often enough, people stop to tell me that something I said or did profoundly changed them. That’s the reward of the rabbinate n and it’s a big one!
